  • What Are PC Game Trainers and How To Use Them to Cheat In PC Games?

    Share this page via:

Game Trainer is a third-party program which runs simultaneously with video game and allows player to cheat and/or unlock specific game features and options.

Every computer game uses memory addresses to store specific data related to currently running game, such as player health status, available weapons, ammo stock and similar informations. Trainer is programmed to change these data in order to suit player’s needs.

Game trainers are the most popular way of cheating in video games, these days.

    How to use game trainer?

Game trainers are usually designed to be simple and easy to understand for all kinds of gamer audience. Many trainers consists of only one executive file, but sometimes there may be couple of more files and libraries within the same folder. Almost every trainer comes with a detail explanation and usage instructions, stored in Readme.txt file. If there’s no Readme.txt, take a look for any file with .nfo extension and run it via Notepad or similar text editor.

The usual procedure is to run the trainer and then run your game, while the trainer window stays active (sometimes it works vice-versa). Trainers are programmed to include a bunch of keyboard shortcuts, which can be used to toggle on/off various trainer features while you’re in game. Some trainers even offer an option to remap shortcut keys to accommodate player’s needs. Usually, you’ll hear a sound message when you activate each trainer option.

Some trainers may automatically start playing midi music when started (may be pretty annoying and pointless), but there’s usually a button somewhere within the trainer graphic interface, to turn off this feature. If there’s no music switch button, it will probably stop playing when you start the game.

How/where to find and download trainers?

Game trainers are spread all over the Internet and finding them is more than easy. Just type the game name in Google, followed by the keyword “trainer” and you’ll get a bunch of results. For example “GTA V trainer“, will get you a huge list of sites offering trainer downloads for Grand Theft Auto V.

Almost every trainer name consists of game title, followed by a plus symbol (+) and number which represents the number of features included in specific game trainer. After the number, there’s usually a name of trainer’s author. This is a standard naming convention for game trainers. For example: GTA V +9 trainer by LinGon or Call Of Duty Ghosts +9 trainer by MaxTre.

Are game trainers harmful for my computer?

No, they are absolutely not, but you should definitely pay attention while downloading any kind of content from the internet. Many people tend to upload various kind of malware to their websites and smuggle it as some kind of harmless software such as game trainers.

My antivirus detected game trainer as a virus! What should I do?

This is a very common situation, which may be a false alert, which it is in the most number of cases. Game trainers, as explained before, change various memory addresses related to currently running video game, modifying the way game’s executables works. These actions are very similar to those performed by viruses, adware, spyware, trojan horses and any other kind of malicious software. This is the reason why your antivirus or firewall software may report downloaded trainer as an infected and harmful for your PC.

If this happens, the best practice would be to avoid running suspicious file and search for another trainer, since there are no 100% effective methods to determine if it is a false alarm or real threat. Some websites may include additional informations about trainer, advising you to ignore any possible antivirus warning, but this may also be unreliable (depending on the website reputation).

Who makes game trainers and should I pay for them?

Game trainer are most commonly made by gaming community groups or individuals. Some of the most popular are: PiZZADOX, MaxTre, LinGonFLiNGh4x0rMrAntiFunDEViATEDDEViOUSreVOLVeR.

Almost all trainers are absolutely FREEWARE programs, developed for fun, not gaining any kind of profit to their Authors. There’s only one, well-known, trainer development group that sells their products and it is CheatHappens (cheathappens.com), but they also offer a bunch of free trainer versions (especially for older game titles).

  • How to Install Latest Windows Updates, including Service Pack 1 (Windows 7)

    Share this page via:

Keeping your Windows OS up to date is one of the most important things you can do to make your software function properly.

Many programs, especially modern video games utilizes the latest Microsoft programs and libraries, so if some newly installed software returns error when launching, it is probably resulted in outdated OS files.

One of the most important parts of Windows updates is Service Pack 1. It includes various security, performance, and stability updates which are essential for your OS or any other recently developed Windows software.

Although every Windows OS is initially configured to update itself automatically, sometimes users disable automatic updating to preserve internet bandwidth or unwanted updating process which runs on its own, spending RAM and CPU usage when you need it for something else. If so, you should manually check for updates, once in a while.

How to manually check for Windows updates

To manually check for Windows updates make sure your Internet connection is active and follow these steps:

    1. Go to start menu and type “windows update” into the search field.

    2. Select first and the only choice and Windows Update window will show. Pay attention as this is the point where many people got tricked by “No importand updates available” message, so they usually close Windows Update window (believing that their OS is up to date), but this actually means that there aren’t any downloaded updates. So although “No important updates available” message may appear, ignore this and proceed to the next step!

    3. On the right side of the window, there should be several options including Control Panel Home, Check for updates, Change settings, View update History… Select Check for updates and wait for updater to obtain the list of latest updates from Microsoft server. This process may take several minutes or longer (sometimes even more then one hour), and if there are updates available, you will eventually get this:

Click on “4 important updates are available”, select all items displayed in the list, and click OK. Sometimes all updates are already selected, so you don’t have to select anything. Anyway, this is the last confirmation you will receive before installing the updates:

Click on “Install updates” and you will see your updates being downloaded and installed one by one. Do not restart or shutdown your PC during this process. The best practice is to leave your PC and do nothing while it finishes installing everything. Once it finishes, you’ll get “The updates were successful installed” message, but since OS is unable to update some currently running processes and services, it will offer “Restart now” button. Hit this button and your PC will restart itself, but it will continue to update before booting into the Windows again.

Important: Keep in mind that if your Windows OS wasn’t updated for a long time, it will not be able to obtain and install all available updates at once. For example Service Pack 1 can not be installed if all previous updates are not installed. So repeat previous steps until you get “No important updates available” message after you clicked on Check for updates:

Windows could not search for new updates

Sometimes an error may occur while Windows Update utility is searching for new updates. “Windows could not search for new updates” message will appear along with error code:

This means something is blocking Windows Update utility from obtaining updates. Follow THIS link to fix the problem.

How to enable/disable automatic Windows update

As already mentioned in this text, sometimes it is a good practice to disable your OS from automatically checking and installing updates to avoid being interrupted occasionally since Microsoft releases new updates very frequently. To access these settings, follow next steps:

    1. Go to start menu and type “windows update” into the search field.

    2. Select first and the only choice and Windows Update window will show.

    3. On the right side of the window select Change settings and you will get settings screen where you can customize the way you want to update your OS. If you select “Never check for updates” in the drop down menu, make sure to manually run updater at least once in a month.

How to uninstall particular, previously installed, Windows update

Although very rarely, it might happen that some programs stop working or behave strange after installing particular Windows updates. If you are in doubt that Windows updates messed up some of your software, you can select and remove particular update. As you can assume, this is not recommended since it can affect many other software as well as OS functionality, so it is a good idea to create system restore point before doing so. To uninstall particular Windows update, follow these steps:

    1. Go to start menu and type “windows update” into the search field.

    2. Select first and the only choice and Windows Update window will show.

    3. On the right side of the window select Installed Updates and you will get the complete list of previously installed updates with details separated in columns: Program (which program uses the update), Version, Publisher and Installed On. If you click on Installed On, you will sort updates by the date when they were installed, to easier determine which particular update you want to remove.

    4. Right click on the update you want to remove and select “Uninstall“.

How to check if Windows 7 Service Pack 1 is installed

To make sure that Windows 7 Service Pack 1 has been successful installed, right click on “Computer” icon on your desktop and select “Properties“. If there’s no such an icon on your desktop, go to start menu, type “system” into the search box and when results show, select “System” under “Control Panel” group. There should be “Service Pack 1” under “Windows edition“, like this:

  • How To Reinstall, Repair Or Uninstall DirectX (Windows 7)

    Share this page via:

    What is DirectX?

Microsoft DirectX is the most important software when it comes to handling multimedia content in Windows Operating System. Video games depend on DirectX so heavily that even the smallest error or corrupted library within the DirectX Runtime Components may result in game crashes.

DirectX related problems usually trigger error prompts at the beginning of the program’s execution, making it unavailable to run any further. To avoid these problems, make sure your DirectX version is always up to date.

Whenever you install a new game, pay close attention to what installation has to offer because it will probably ask you to install/upgrade DirectX. You should always accept this, and if your version is already up to date, installer will skip the DirectX installation and finish installation normally.

    Reinstall, repair or delete DirectX

Whatever you need to do with your local DirectX installation, it is certainly that you are trying to fix some errors or problems caused by damaged or deleted DirectX files. The best way to repair any DirectX related problem is to install the latest version from Microsoft official download site: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=35

Download a DirectX End-User Runtime Web Installer (dxwebsetup.exe) to your local disk and run it. If it goes through the installation and finishes normally, it means that your previous version wasn’t up to date, and that should fix your problems. But if installation finishes saying:

DirectX setup has determined that a newer or equivalent version of DirectX has been installed already. No installation is necessary.

,then you will have to trick the installer to overwrite your local version. This can be done by modifying a registry key where DirectX saves its version number. It is stored under:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\DirectX\Version

Set the key value to 4.08.00.0904 and try running installer again. It will detect an older version and proceed with installation.

If you don’t want to mass around with registry keys, you can simply download and run this file and it will modify DirectX version number for you: DirectX Version Number Modifier
